2001-03-15 Only two more days until Shamrock shakes are no longer available, supposedly. It makes me sad because these last few weeks I have become quite addicted. I think it is something they put in it. And I wouldn’t be surprised because these are the same people, who according to Fast Food Nation add beef products to the fries. The only thing stopping me from getting a shake everyday is the cost. For some reason it isn’t the empty calories, or the fake dairy products, it is that $1.32 for the small. I thought perhaps if I got the medium I’d feel a bit better. Sure it was $1.56, but it was bigger. Somehow, it was too much Shamrock-y goodness for me. Sure, I drank it all, but I felt a little sick afterwards. And I CAN NOT get sick on shamrock shakes, again. In February/March 1986, I broke up with an icky boyfriend and then drowned my sorrows with a shamrock shake, which I threw up. It would be years before I drank another. Ten years actually. But this is the first year I have craved them. In the past, I had gotten maybe one on some chance stop at Micky Dees. This year, I saw a sign in the window of one and I had to have one. After that I was hooked. I do refrain from having one every day, but tonight I must have one. And maybe tomorrow too. After all they are available for a limited time only. |
