2002-02-04 I wanted to write an entry about time, about how it slips by me dayafter day. I wanted to write about how each day goes by so quickly and how I don't even realize it. Until.... Well until an un expected snow day gives my week a speedbump, causing it to mercifully slow. I've never been more gleeful about 6 inches of snow as I was Thursday. Sure husband and I had to shovel heavy snow from our long driveway. But we had all day. In between shovelling sessions, we napped, drank hot choclate and generally enjoyed spending the entire day together. I even started an entry on how different my day was because of that snow. I did a table with my snow day on one side and my "work" day on the other. It was too depressing. Instead I feel that I don't have the words to describe how precious it was for me to have that Thursday at home, snowbound with the one person I'd most like to be snowbound with. Since then of course, life has intruded. My car is on day 9 of being in the repair shop, causing husband and I lots of inconvenience (where are you going? Um valentine's day shopping.). The washer drain pipe is clogged (again) and on Wednesday men will be ripping up my basement floor to replace it (the alternative is they could come every other week and clear it out). And my water heater is still getting so hot it blows the safety valve (so that guy will have to come out again and install an overflow tank or somesuch). Still for one day last week, all was quiet and calm and covered by a six inch blanket that muffled all of my cares. |
