I almost hate to say it for fear that I will jinx myself. And jinxing would be bad at this point because Thursday is my annual review. No I haven't been here a year, they do reviews annually--everyone gets a review in late March in a process that doesn't finish up til I think June. Annual reviews can be quite scary for me now that I've had a really bad one. Perhaps this is made even more nerve wracking by the idea that I like my job.

Ok, just to be clear here, I don't love this job. I don't wake up every morning thinking Whoo Whee I get to go to work today! But I also don't cry on my way to work, like I did at the saltmine library. I don't like every aspect of my job, in fact I was just kinda moaning about how I hate sharing a restroom with the students, but I do enjoy most parts of it. I get to interact with students who for the most part are really excited about learning new things and I get to work with people who for the most part are nice and don't say hurtful things to me. And today I got a good parking place.

In my head, this entry was really about how I want to name this place, the airport library. For one thing the parking is terrible--if you get here after 8am, you walk a loong loong way to buildings. The students here all seem to carry around wheeled luggage too. They put their books in them and wheel around. Also cell phones ring so much that one prof I know put in his sylabus that if a cell phone rang in his class you would be asked to leave and considered absent. The library forbids them and yet every day I am treated to at least one phone. I walk around the halls and see many many students talking ont he phone, wheeling suitcases and being very determined about their destination. I expect the college to have a loudspeaker reminding me to NEVER carry items on for passengers.

I never thought I'd like working at an airport--people working there obviously don't like working in airports. But I do--just don't tell anyone and jinx me.
