2002-11-14 I’m home sick today. Not really because I actually AM sick although it started that way. I woke up really tired from what is proving to be the norm these days—fitful sleep at night. I have become rather fond of sleeping on my right side—in fact I’m so comfortable that way, that I can’t sleep any other way. This I think in part is contributing to my backache. Anyway, I usually try my left side when I get back from one of my many nightly trips to the bathroom (and hey this is all gonna get better—I’m only at 21 weeks!) and invariably wake up after 45 min needing to roll over. Rolling over used to be one of those things I could do without waking up. Anyway I digress. I woke up tired. I ate breakfast, I fell asleep in my recliner. So at 7:30 I called in and said, I would come into work say noonish. At 8:30 work called—I slept through it. Husband woke me up to tell me that work had called to say that a toilet had exploded on the second floor and that I should probably think about staying home all day since several cubes (although not mine) had water damage and they weren’t sure how bacteria laden everything was.You don’t have to tell me twice. When I finally woke up for the day I called in—Yes, water water everywhere, but allegedly clean water. So if I stayed home it would have to be at my own expense (a sick day), but everyone seemed to think it was wise. So I did. My cube isn’t damaged, although the floor is wet. I did take a picture of my paddle that I mentioned as my award for being a great employee—you know the one I thought I could beat someone with. Here it is, you decide:
I guess I thought this entry would be more about loose ends. I thought it would be about how I finally got my Christmas list together. How my mom decreed on Sunday that we would exchange presents at Thanksgiving, since I wouldn’t be able to come at Christmas. Meaning of course, that I need to have a good chunk of my shopping done soon. so yesterday I came home from work, with their meager lists in hand—yes they finally sent a list such that it was and shopped. My brother’s wife gave me more suggestions as she had picked their brains in person. So I bought things from the brain picked list and finished shopping for Pop. Then I planned a careful assault on the mall for Monday (or the weekend if husband feels up to a planned assault) that should finish my mom, and my grandma. Hopefully it will also finish off Pop’s parents, but I have no idea what to get them, other than what we already bought (yes I had already bought a Christmas gift, it was on sale so I bought it!). Then all that leaves for the thanksgiving gift exchanging is a birthday present for my brother’s wife, and maybe something for my SIL. We don’t usually get BIL and SIL birthday presents, but it would be weird to get my brother’s wife a present and not get SIL one since their birthdays are at the same time—even if they will never know it. My brother and his wife won’t be at the “family” exchange and BIL and SIL aren’t in any hurry to exchange presents. Besides BIL and SIL and he kids might come up here at Christmas, and certainly MIL will. In baby news, well it is week 21. I got my belly groped at the ye doctors this week. I got told I look 7 months along by the same person. Really outside people can’t feel the babies move—much. Husband got his first feel of a kick the other night, but that was after much patience. One of them did though kick so hard last night it moved my arm which was draped over my belly holding a book! It was quite the experience. My back has been killing me lately. The Doctor gave me exercises and the green light on Tylenol and both seem to be helping somewhat. I thought my morning sickness was over, but over the weekend I proved myself wrong. Although the queasiness IS gone and my appetite is back with a vengeance. Speaking of which, I think it is time for a snack.
