So.
Yes, when I last wrote I was having all this Christmas stress. But my brother set up a conference call and whammo, we got it solved. I stuck to my guns and said we weren't driving all the way to my mom's. I said we'd be willing to go as far as my brother's house. I said we wanted to be home Christmas Morning, but everything else was up in the air and they could decide. I don't think everyone is happy and my brother wanted to lead off by talking about future Christmases, but all in all I think it is solved. At least for 2008. 2009 is going to be an even bigger bitch, but we may invite everyone up here.

And even though I didn't respond the the e-mails I got, it wasn't because I didn't think any of the advice was useful--it was, its because I got busy and didn't get to it.

I had a scratchy throat the day before the conference call, which became a full blown cold by Wednesday, when I had my cavity filled. Also, I am still sick a week later. I'm just so sick of being sick. But I am hoping that now that I have no more Christmas stress, I shall get better. Yep, that's right no more (well a little) but here's why most of the stress is gone:
a) we have a plan for family get togethers that is reasonable.
b) I have nearly all my shopping done
c) I didn't have to do most of it.
I still need to address some of the cards, get the pictures for the cards ready and have the man do the Christmas letter, but hey it is December 2 and cards can go out as late as Dec 31st in my opinion. I still need to set up the tree, but we will most likely start that this weekend. I still need to buy a present for my brother (I just need to call the golf course and get a gift certificate). I still need to do some baking that I want to mail out--but I need to get better. I need to get a few stocking stuffers (will do that most likely Wednesday). So really the only thing I am stressed about: What to get my husband.

Husband is a hard guy to shop for, in part because, I get a small budget: $50. Also in part because everything he "really wants" is out of that budget or he gets it from other people. So, he needs a new desk chair, but that will cost at least $100. He also seems to think he needs a new stereo receiver, because ours occasionally cuts out in the middle of a CD. But that will also run me $100. He does have an Amazon list, but nothing screams personal gift like buying stuff from his wishlist. I should know him well enough to pick something nice out for him that he would really like but is afraid to ask for. He doesn't wear ties, or dress shirts, doesn't shave, doesn't golf or have any hobbies like that. He does read (bad science fiction stories) but all those are on his Amazon list. He does still have some "high" priority things (my mother asked him to prioritize) left on his list, though.... hmmm. I do like to get him meaningful presents, though things I know he'll use and like. He never drops hints though.
What he needs is a hobby. One I can get him a magazine subscription for. Something I can buy him stuff for. And at this point I know my friend Jenn is laughing hysterically at the idea of my husband with a hobby.

I'll get it figured out, I always do. One year I bought him luggage and he didn't take it as a sign that I wanted him to move out so I guess we know each other pretty well even if we aren't original.

So.. other things going on in my life. I was planning a post on how the new Year's resolutions are shaping up. But every time I pat myself on the back for how we've managed the finances we end up having to buy stuff. Stuff like cavities and printers, and sewer line snakings and dishwasher repairs. And finances, well... that might be the only resolution I could possibly make at this point. Although not if I keep having to spend an extra $200 every week.

other news: Amy lost a tooth, making 4 for her and 5 for Emily. Emily has a loose one, so 2008 might just be a 10 tooth year. Ten TEETH!
I decided to knit the teacher gifts this year--and I have them almost done.
The ladies LOVE school and school loves them, if the report cards I got last week are any indication. I still have my moments with school, but I'll deal. I love their teacher though.
I can't think of anything else, probably because my sinuses are full.
