Stalking the Stacks with Library Lil * |
2008-02-05 I wanted to write a little something yesterday, but all I managed to get written was a post on lj that actually sounds a bit happier than I was. Man was I having a rough day. Every single time I thought I had the girls not doing something like wrestling or wrapping yarn around their necks or whacking each other with books, they'd find some new game to annoy me (and each other) with. I thought they were bored and I took them to the library--so we played the who can whine about the pettiest thing game (I might have won). By the end of the day, I wanted to eat chocolate, drink wine, knit, read, hide, or shoot someone, I wasn't really picky about which of those. Instead, I took husband to the eye doctor, sat for 90 minutes while they dilated his eyes and made him cranky and knit a bit. I was calmer when we got home, but wiped out. Didn't sleep all that well either--do you know how hard it is to sleep next to someone who is so sick they do a whistle snore that sounds almost exactly like Amy moaning, MY MAAAMMMMA! I was up three times thinking I heard the ladies, only to realize it was husband again. I can't wait for this cold to leave our house.I am better today, although Emily woke up in the night last night sobbing that her ear hurt "a little bad". We went to the doctor, because I'm middle class paranoid like that, and got the all clear on the ears. Still, I only had to reprimand the kids one time for not listening to me, so in my head that's 100% better than yesterday. Plus, husband was home this am, so I got to sneak downstairs and sew for an hour. I decided the baby quilt I'm making needs another row, and I think I've found a piece of fabric to use as a border. Please, the next time I say I need to make two baby quilts before April, don't let me do what I've done this year, which is to decide to knit 4 stuffed animals for big sibling gifts and knit booties and hat for the third non-quilt getting baby (third baby, haven't made quilts for the other two--may provide a dinner instead) and not start until January. I'm feeling very much like I'm never going to get anything knit for me until say summer. You know summer--the time when all people want to be wearing sweaters! Despite all the craziness, the ladies have really been cracking me up good. I started a post just on things I've recently heard from them, but I'm probably just going to add to it for a while, until I have a lot of them. But I can't resist, Emily said today that we could just take a picture of something, download it and print it out for school. download! I love when they sound so grownup. I've been hearing a lot of "this doesn't involve that" and Emily has been singing a lot of mermaid songs of being part of your world. Both make me giggle uncontrollably. |
