I have about an hour before the network goes down for the evening and so much that I wanted to say that I was seriously considering splitting it into two entries.
Primarily, I wanted to write about a political issue that just has me LIVID. And I worry that if I write too much about politics, I'll offend people because I have very strong feelings on certain issues. But here's the deal. Everywhere I look I keep getting bombarded with messages that suggest that next Tuesday's primary (In Michigan) is going to be some big deciding factor. Well guess what? It isn't.
You see all the major democratic candidates are "boycotting" Michigan. We see no ads, we get no calls. No candidates are stumping in yuppieville. In essence we are being left alone. Now on the whole one might think--Great so you can vote for who you feel is right without being subjected to negative campaigns. Well, yes, if indeed there would be all the candidates on the ballot. Clinton is the only major candidate on the ballot here. The other candidates chose not to be in order to not upset the DNC. Also, I've heard Michigan's delegates won't be seated. So even if Clinton wins, the delegates won't be seated (theoretically).
So basically, I'm feeling a bit disenfranchised. Unless I'm republican or I want to vote for Clinton, the only reason to head out on Tuesday is to cast my vote in the local election that is being contested. And I'll vote--if there really is the option that I saw mentioned in the Detroit free press on line that says--Undecided that this time, well that's who I'll be voting for. All in all though, I've lost respect for just about every democratic candidate.
And while I'm here alienating all of you people who might be republican or Clinton supporters, let me tell you that the Republicans certainly have had no problem bombarding us with ads. And the one for Mitt Romney had me do a double take. So here's all these great pictures of Mitt while the announcer states that that basically Mitt doesn't want you to have an abortion, Mitt doesn't want you to be gay much less marry another gay person, Mitt basically wants to go back to 1950s America. I'm thinking this is an attack ad from the competition because I can't believe the hatred being implied in the ad, but then there's Mitt saying I'm Mitt Romney and I approved this ad! Let's just say, I'd probably better not take my blood pressure during campaign season.

Mostly though, I've been knitting (how's that for a segue). I've got a ton of gift knitting to do. Which is just like me, don't knit anything really for Christmas (OK I made a couple of hats, but seriously, no Christmas knitting) and then get overloaded in January. I don't really knit all that fast, but I have on the docket: A toy snake, two other stuffed animals--turtles maybe, a pair of adult socks (probably monkey socks) and a baby hat and booties set. But I don't want to knit any of that. I don't even want to finish the pair of socks I'm working on, because I know I'm going to run out of yarn (and as a side note, what is up with yarn that has yardage for 3.5 socks?). I started swatching for a top down hoodie, but I know I'll feel terrible guilt if I work on that instead of one of the stuffed animals. For some reason though, I can not get motivated on anything. I've recently been invited to a knitting group, so a snake would be the ideal knitting group knitting, as it is pretty mindless with simple color changes.
Well, if I'm going to get this posted, I'd better get going.
