Stalking the Stacks with Library Lil * |
2008-01-15 Because I know everyone is hanging on the edge of their seats, I felt like perhaps you needed to know that I decided to start snake number 2--and actually have it 1/3 of the way knit. I also started swatching for a sweater for me, so perhaps it balances. I finished the tofutsies socks I started for vacation knitting--but I ran out of yarn. I used instead some leftover from one of the first projects I ever knit. A sweater for the girls (made out of sock yarn for crying out loud).Because I have started the snake, and because I finished the socks, I do feel perfectly justified in starting the sweater for me. Not that I'm rationalizing or anything. I also started the first of the two baby quilts. I'm doing a snails trail pattern for my college roommate's third baby. She studied snails in grad school and I've always wanted to make her a snail quilt. Back before my brain started oozing out of my head at night (or I started getting sleep depravation torture by the ladies--whatever), I figured out how many blocks of various colors I'd need to make it look like a rainbow (the better to use your scraps my dear). I'm hoping it works out because, like I said my brain is mush and I just don't trust my math (which coincidentally is the only thing keeping me from diving into the sweater-- I can't really decide what size to make. the number I think I should make is labeled small!). Jenn says though I should write about kindergarten. I guess there isn't much to write about on that front, although yesterday I was all in CRISIS about it. The parent orientation is Jan 31, and yesterday we got a letter from the school demanding all this stuff from us prior to Jan 31. Including immunization records. Which, we are behind on for this but will be ok, by school. The ladies get 5! shorts before September, I'll be asking if they need them all March 11 when they go for the physical. Also including a vision/hearing screening form. Evidently yearly trips to the optometrist don't count. Husband took the forms, the residency requirement (please no drivers license) and birth certificates over when he voted today. He explained that the immunizations and hearing vision thing would be coming later. he is so sensible. You see what I did was flap around the house wondering if I should bring the incomplete records. What I did was wonder (loudly and often) if I should get them screened ASAP or use the screening results from when they were two (and Amy failed due to an ear infection). Just like we've divvied up most household jobs, we've divvied up dealing with school. Supposedly I am in charge of that. I'm claiming temporary insanity due to being overwhelmed with other things for my reaction yesterday. I promise (cross my heart) that I will not go off the deep end, even though eventually someone will be assessing my kids for their kindergarten readiness. |
