Stalking the Stacks with Library Lil * |
2008-01-22 I think I'm finally getting this Universe spontaneity thing down. Take this week as an example.Sunday morning we went out to get a paper and the husband's car tire was flat. A new tire mind you. And the tire store was closed. Did I panic? Did I race around furious mad at the world? I did not. Indeed, I did what a rational normal person does. I made alternate plans. I coped! Then today, the plan was to go to yoga this morning. Then have a relaxing day with the ladies. Instead the ladies fell asleep about 9:30 last night (instead of 8:30) due to coughing on Amy's part. Then we woke up to the phone announcement that husband's university was closed til noon. (yes, they called at 6:50am to tell us we could sleep in!). There were 7 inches of new snow. No school, so no yoga (that's the yoga studio's policy). I coped once again. I took Amy to the doctor, I baked, I shoveled (well husband shoveled--I went out and looked pathetic until the neighbors pitied me and let me use the snow blower.) I even went the distance with the girls tonight. Which means that I had to break up several fights, corral the giggling and basically keep on them through everything (which is !@# exhausting). Because while husband thought the U might close for the whole day--there is a reason he doesn't want to go further in the administration. yep, husband went to work about the time I took the girls to the Doctor. So ok--what do I win? Well, let me tell you, come Friday I think I'm going to need a prize. I'm not sure payday counts. I think Husband needs a prize too. I wonder what else is in store for us? Perhaps I'd better not make any plans just in case. Last night I also went to a knitting group. I had felt left out initially, because this was a group of people from the LYS I worked at who have been getting together pretty much all fall and they hadn't invited me (boo hoo). I guess that isn't totally true. I've been invited (although last minute) a few times and hadn't been able to attend. Well, let me tell you, I had a great time. Almost everyone was making fetching! which was also a hoot. I'll definitely go back--although I can't next time since I have to drive the man home from the eye dr. Honestly, I don't know when I've had more fun outside the house. Was good I went too--with all the coughing, that was all the knitting I got done yesterday. Plus, it was fun to see some of the ladies from the shop and catch up. Turns out to be a good thing I left the LYS when I did--I guess w-2 s from 07 are non-existent, instead of what she did in 06, which was to pull numbers out of her butt. I think I made $42 in 07 there, so I don't feel like I need to really claim that. Perhaps I'll just do less charity deductions. At any rate, I'm not worried about it, and if the IRS is, well the country is in bigger trouble than even I think it is. |
