Stalking the Stacks with Library Lil

The ladies are at day camp and I have a hair appointment, which translates into basically 45 minutes of free time. I figured I could write or I could make jam. I'm picking writing, and writing here to boot. I guess I figured that when I had some good moods, I should share those too.

I think I've decided that I need a certain amount of exercise every day or week or every other day or something, to help keep my moods a little more balanced. Either that or just the time to myself is what does it. Maybe both. At least after I finally ran I didn't feel so nearly mad at the whole world. Plus, some of the more irritating habits of the people in my family are a little easier to deal with. So I ran on Monday while the ladies were at camp, and Tuesday I sat on the patio (even though it was the man's birthday and he was home--I just needed to be outside and he hates the outside). It might also be that I haven't had to work for a few days too.

Work is seriously stressing me out. And of course it is a big no no to write about work. I'm the part-time person, and NO one tells me jack shit about anything going on. We lost the library director and the reference librarian who was basically directing the library (various reasons, let's just say one is still at the institution in another capacity and the other is not). The other librarian is a postpartum wreck who has called every single day of her maternity leave (also calls people at home, but not me thankfully). Theoretically we are hiring a "lead Librarian" and moving the maternity leave librarian to a new desk, and the library is shrinking by half. The "lead librarian" will be both director and reference librarian. I suspect that the new lead librarian has already been hired--without a search--because I know that the reference librarian that has left recommended someone, and the book dealer mentioned meeting someone. Oh the book dealer, caught that one did you, yes the book dealer. See in an effort to gain some space, we're discarding heavily and we've arranged for a local used book dealer to buy off our collection. Including having him scope out areas that have not been evaluated by library staff. So yes, there is a book dealer doing our discards.
All of that would be stressful enough, but as I said no one tells me anything. Seriously--I even only found out about the book dealer because this spacey guy walked up to me asking about buying a set of books.
But I probably should not have said all that--instead I should have just said--if you want to have happy employees you MUST keep everyone in the communication loop. Seriously--send an e-mail if you don't feel it takes a meeting. Have a meeting? Sure, but either invite everyone, or send notes to everyone including those who can't attend. I thought this was management 101, but I guess not.

Boy that all sounds like I'm pissed. Really though I'm frustrated with work--and actually am feeling better than I was last week. I only work 10 hours a week which means 158 hours a week I'm dealing with home. I should focus more on that. The rest is going smoothly. Well except for the staph which has re-appeared on Emily almost exactly a year later. I'm dealing with it though--and so is she. Hopefully she's getting better. Although hopefully--it isn't MRSA or something terrible--they aren't weeping anyway.

Ok what else, well I stepped out of my comfort zone and went to a new yoga class, and while I feel good now, I think I will hurt BAD tomorrow. I also felt a little weird because it isn't my regular teacher, but a classmate, and my only classmate for this class is my regular teacher. Was that hard to follow? Anyway, I felt like the teacher of this class was a bit disapproving, despite her telling me afterwards that I kept up well. Last week this would have made me cry. This week, I feel a bit weepy, but I'll deal with it--I went outside my comfort zone and sweated a lot more than I care to at yoga, but I survived--all 70 minutes of it!

ok--must go time for my hair appointment.
