Dear Diary-
I'm sorry to have neglected you for so long. It's just that things are busy here these days, what with kindergarten and running and knitting and sewing and working.
I know these are excuses all of them, and if you love something you'll make time for it, but....

Yeah, that's how I thought I'd start this very needed update--it was either that or a list. Actually I could do a list too.
Things I have been doing instead of writing here:
1) deleting approximately 15,000 pieces of spam that originated from the diaryland.com address. (no, that is not an exaggeration, if anything it is an undercount as one day I was hit--on gmail for the record--with 12,000 pieces of spam in the spambox, and another 100 or so in the inbox. This went on for a week, before it leveled off.) This is why you can no longer e-mail me at my diaryland account. I took it down. If you want to contact me... I don't have any good solution for you--maybe Livejournal--I'm library-lil.livejournal.com
2) I've been working on Halloween Costumes. Emily wants to be a princess and has picked out a pattern that looks fairly straightforward. Amy has decided on Glenda. Glenda is not really a good witch in my opinion. Her costume is killing me. I have spent at least 5 hours on this costume and it is not done. It is not even close. Ok--well I have the bodice mostly done. It doesn't help that I have had to rip out as much as I have sewed. It also doesn't help that I got the fabric for like $1 a yard and so it puckers like a kid eating a sourball.
3)I've been working while at work! I *know*! Weird stuff, but there you go. They gave me a raise (3%--so no big deal) and I changed my hours so I don't work on party night any more. My new boss starts in about 10 days, I fully expect that she'll want to change my schedule again, but I'm not fussing over that until it happens. Of course I couldn't do anything about the weekends, so maybe I'll write more then.
4) Kindergarten. You would think that getting Amy and Emily out of the house for 15 hours a week would mean that I'd get to sit down and write. Well, you'd be wrong. First, I work during 3 of those. Then there is Yoga and other fitness-ey stuff. Then there is the volunteering in the classroom stuff--which has finally kicked in. So really, I'm left with jealously guarding the ONE day I have chosen not to schedule. Mondays. On Mondays I can do whatever I want--I do not schedule anything if I can possibly avoid it.

I couldn't think of any more excuses. I'd argue that I don't have anything to write about but then, I'd have to discount Amy's tooth loss and Emily's Tai chi.
Amy lost her third tooth rather undramatically, except that she made it onto the "tooth board" at school, whereas Emily who lost a tooth a mere 5 days before school began (as I was brushing her tooth for crying out loud) did not. In an informal school poll though it was said that Emily had lost the most in her class at four.
For the tai chi--first you must know that I quiz the girls relentlessly about school, which goes over about as well as you might expect and I hear NOTHING. Well, I do hear who is going to marry who and that gym class is boring because the gym floor doesn't have mats. So the other day I said--Ok, whose hair am I drying first and Emily said--can you do Amy first because I want to do my Tai Chi. Then I dried Amy's hair and Emily did some real looking Tai chi moves. My first thought was wow! gym class must be more fun then they let on. So I did what I do best, I said Emily did you learn that in Gym class? Nope. From Sagwa.

So, let's see--lame letter (check). List with details (check) Cute kid stories (check and check). I think I'm done for now.
